Milk made from almonds is so delicious and a wonderful source of protein and calcium. This is a basic milk recipe that you can experiment with by adding other ingredients such as raw cacao, carob, cinnamon, banana or berries.

Almond milk makes a great replacement for regular milk on your breakfast cereal, in tea or coffee or simply as a delicious drink.

Ingredients:

Serves 4

1 cup raw almonds (preferably soaked overnight)

1 – 2 Tablespoons raw agave (to taste)

! Tablespoon alcohol free vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean

4 cups water

Pinch sea salt

Directions:

Place all ingredients in blender and blend for at least 30 seconds or until smooth. Start with the lesser amount of agave and taste and add more if you would like it to be sweeter.

If using a regular blender I recommend that you use the vanilla extract rather than the whole vanilla bean and strain your milk by using a nut milk bag or a fine sieve so as to remove the almond pulp.

If you are using a Vita-Mix blender then straining is optional for a smoother texture.
