The Raw Food Detox - Simple, Effective and Fun

The raw food detox diet is a process, a progression and a perfect way to start to grow into the person you always knew you could be. The concept of raw food is as old as humans, before we had fire we ate all raw and our basic digestive system has not evolved much since those times. In our increasingly frantic and overwhelming society the change to a raw food diet involves a process of personal change also. The diet itself is life and energy giving and therefore fun. It is effective and has been shown to dramatically improve a whole host of conditions and illnesses. By the very nature of its content it is a simple diet to follow.

The initial period of changing over to a raw food diet will always involve some sort of detoxification process. It is as inevitable as breathing or the sun rising. After a lifetime of eating cooked and processed food the body has toxins and waste products that it has stored. When first embarking on the raw food detox diet the first thing to go is these waste products. Symptoms range from bad breath and wind, to spots, headaches and cold like symptoms. These are not inevitable and some people only experience some of these to a small degree whilst others have stronger symptoms. If these symptoms get to be too much it is easy to control them by firstly drinking plenty of clean water. Secondly, try and get some extra sleep or light naps. Thirdly, if it is getting in the way of your daily life try adding some boiled brown rice or steamed vegetables into your raw diet. This slows down and reduces the intensity of the symptoms to a level that you can manage your life around. These symptoms normally only last a few days, but if you do have to slow down the detox with cooked food then they may last a little longer.

The physical side of the raw food detox diet has been often discussed, but what is not so often spoken about is the potential for profound personal growth at the same time. The psychology surrounding food, for all of us, is a complex mix of necessity, upbringing and societal messages. Basically, we all have some sort of ‘relationship’ to the food that we eat. When we change the food we eat then we must change some parts of the mind set associated with it. As we eat more raw food the body has a chance to become clearer and more energised, this gives us the space to challenge and reconstruct aspects of our self that we quite simply never had the time or the energy to change before. This process can be, for some, enlightening and for others, new and a little scary. This is normal and if necessary we should seek out mentors to guide us through this process of change. There are many coaches and experts out there and we need to select one of these professionals to help us through our journey based on intuition, self knowledge and perhaps a recommendation.

As you progress through the process and begin to identify the areas of your life that may contain old self destructive habits you have the opportunity and choice to change. Remember there is always a choice and whatever you choose no one has the right to judge you based on your decision. This is your life and your journey; if raw food can help then I wish you success in that direction. If not then I also wish you good speed in the search for your process and transformation. I know that from personal experience and the plethora of testimonial and anecdotal evidence out in the world at large, raw food can play a significant part in most, if not all, of our journeys. Whether you be fighting physical ill health, psychological issues or just want a bit more zing in your daily life, somehow raw food can play a part in it all.
