Dr. Joel Fuhrman Talks About the Importance of a High-Nutrient Diet

In this video Dr.Joel Fuhrman talks about the value of healthy fats in the diet. This information will be very interesting for anyone who has had less than optimal results with low fat diets, or anyone with a health condition such as heart disease, diabetes and obesity that are directly related to what we eat.

Dr.Furhman is someone who I greatly respect for his presentations of information based on thorough scientific research. Although he doesn’t advocate a 100% raw diet he highlights the importance of eating a very high intake of vegetables and fruits with smaller amounts of nuts, seeds, whole grains and legumes.

One of the most relevant points he makes are how refined oils - even those commonly regarded as heart healthy such as olive oil - are actually not the best choice. It is far better to select whole food sources of fats such as avocados, flaxseeds, hempseeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, almonds and coconut.

The most important factor determining whether a food is healthy for us is the ratio of micronutrients to calories in a food. Oils, sugar, refined carbohydrates and animal products contribute very few nutrients and not surprisingly are the main culprits contributing to obesity.

Dr.Fuhrman is the author of Eat For Health: Lose Weight, Keep It Off, Look Younger, Live Longer and Super Immunity: The Essential Nutrition Guide for Boosting Your Body’s Defenses to Live Longer, Stronger, and Disease Free.

Leaky Gut Cleansing Diet

When there is an overgrowth of Candida in the large intestines of an individual, leaky gut syndrome can begin to manifest. It is true that Candida albicans and other microbes are naturally occurring flora in the human colon, but their population may sometimes become too large as a result of our poor feeding habits or use of drugs such as antibiotics, and corticosteroids. When this overpopulation occurs, the lining of the intestines, especially the colon may develop holes through which usually paves a way for toxins, parasites and other impurities to leak into the blood stream and cells. There are many methods of treating this condition, and these include: diet, dietary supplements, and colon cleansing.

Gluten and sugar are contained in many of the foods we eat, and when the systemic yeast feeds on these two substances, leaky gut syndrome can be the result. Most of the breads, cereals, pastas, and milk that we eat contain gluten and sugar. Treatment of leaky gut is easier when you do not eat those foods that have gluten and sugar. Some examples of gluten free and sugar free foods are brown rice substitutes for milk, many other popular staple foods, most meats, vegetables, fruits, potatoes, yams and nuts. You will be doing yourself a lot of good by avoiding gluten and sugar-free foods. You may want to know for how long you should continue to avoid these foods. My advice is to avoid them for as long as possible for you but it should not be less than 60 days.

Raw vegetables and non-sweet fruits have some benefit in offloading Candida from your gut. Certain special digestive enzymes that can repair leaky gut are contained in vegetables and fruits. Fruits and vegetables also have many other vitamins and minerals, which aid healthy cell growth.

Some common vegetables used in juicing are kale, parsley, carrots, celery, cucumbers, radishes, garlic and beets while some very useful juicing fruits are bananas, mangoes, papaya, kiwi, oranges, grapefruit, blueberries and strawberries.

Treatment of leaky gut usually erodes the beneficial bacterial floras that are present in the gut, and this flora can be replaced by using probiotics, which are available at most health food stores. Certain digestive enzymes that can also eliminate overgrowth of Candida and leaky gut syndrome are available as dietary supplements, but I usually recommend vegetables and fruits since they have these enzymes naturally.

The fact you should know about leaky gut treatment is that when you colon cleanse, whether with natural methods such as diet or any other method, though I often recommend natural, you have automatically removed Candida from your system, and so many people do not know this secret. And after cleansing, just make sure you avoid gluten, sugar, and all other foods that can encourage the growth of Candida.

Alicia Silverstone, Vegan Extraordinaire

By Marvin Bowen

Yes, it’s true! Alicia Silverstone, vegan, mother, and Hollywood Star has kicked the carnivore cuisine to the curb. And not only is she vegan, her baby is too!. And they’re all healthy, happy and full of life. But who cares, right? Well, this isn’t just about her, it’s about you too. ‘How is it about me’, you ask? Simple. Every single person that makes their own decisions about food can have a voice and an impact, just like Alicia.

No, you won’t reach the gossip-hungry masses through tabloid skirmishes or write a book about being vegan and have it be an instant success. I suppose you could try her latest stunt that she did with PETA, but I doubt you climbing out of swimming pool in the nude will have the same perv-a-rific audience clamoring to watch, and get the message from her sponsor, as Alicia did.

Here is what you can do to reach out, though. Make the change yourself. I know, you feel Clueless about what to do. You see, there are alternatives to everything. You can drive an electric car, or use LED light bulbs, maybe install solar panels. These types of changes are exactly what Alicia has done. Instead of telling us to feast on the fatted calf, she offers us a glimpse of her own filet mignon. It may not fill the stomach but it sure does make your mouth water.

All kidding aside, she has taken a strong stand not only in defense of animals but in promoting her and her family’s health. While battling against being a carnivore as a child she sometimes gave in and ate meat. Later in life she attended a meeting after which she said “I realized that I was the problem,” making the connection that she was an animal lover who was eating meat. It was her own ‘A-HA!’ moment. That is the key, realization.

As Alicia Silverstone, vegan, actress, wife and mother, has formed her public presence she has come be be known as equal parts actress and activist. Does that make her an ‘actrevist’? Nevermind that, lets have a look at what she has to say about it herself.

Here are a couple of quotes from Alicia Silverstone, Vegan Extraordinaire

“Once people spend time with farm animals in a loving way… a pig or cow or a little chicken or a turkey, they might find they relate with them the same way they relate with dogs and cats. People don`t really think of them that way because they`re on the plate. Why should they be food when other animals are pets? I would never eat my doggies.”

Would anyone eat their own dog? Probably not the majority of people in this country (although, you never know).

“Nothing’s changed my life more. I feel better about myself as a person, being conscious and responsible for my actions and I lost weight and my skin cleared up and I got bright eyes and I just became stronger and healthier and happier. Can’t think of anything better in the world to be but be vegan.”

She really said it best there. What could be better (for our bodies, for the environment, for animals) than being vegan? Maybe being invincible, but I can’t help you with that.

And now back to how this all affects you. You don’t have to turn your life upside down, or longingly pass by In n Out, BK, McD’s, TB, Wendy’s or (insert your favorite meat menu’d place here) but you can at least start to think about it. Maybe you could even try going one day, just once per week, without it. Lots of people are trying Meatless Menu Mondays, MMM…

Whatever your decision, you aren’t without choices. Maybe some day you can make the same choice as Alicia Silverstone: Vegan, and loving it!

Do People on Raw Foods Eat Only Salad?

Photo courtesy of Tambako the Jaguar

Photo courtesy of Tambako the Jaguar

Most people are aware that our bodies require enzymes to digest food and raw foods contain enough naturally occurring enzymes to digest each particular food. When foods are cooked at temperatures higher than 118 degrees, these natural enzymes begin to denature and die, which places added stress on our bodies to find enzymes from another source, either internally from other foods we eat, or externally, through digestive enzyme supplements.

What gives raw foods their vibrancy and color are the rich phytonutrients and micronutrients present in them, which according to research, may help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, certain cancers, and type II diabetes.

People who eat only raw foods do not just eat salad. However, most of them do eat a salad at least once a day, at lunch or dinner.

Here are some of my options for breakfast:

• A fruit smoothie made with fresh almond milk, fresh or frozen fruit (or a combination of both) and some raw protein powder (Sun Warrior Raw Rice Protein Powder is good)
• A green smoothie made with a 60/40 combination of fruits and green leafy vegetables
• Raw granola (which I make myself) served with fruit and fresh almond milk
• Raw oatmeal made with oat groats soaked overnight, a handful of soaked almonds, dates and fresh almond milk blended to an oatmeal consistency, served with fresh fruit and additional almond milk if necessary.

Here are some of my options for lunch:

• A green smoothie made with a 60/40 combination of fruits and green leafy vegetables
• A california roll made with pate or mock rice and filled with avocado slices, carrot, cucumber, romaine lettuce, fresh herbs and sprouts
• Mini raw pizza made with a raw pizza crust (or even just a slice of eggplant or a lettuce leaf if I don’t have any crusts) topped with a tomato sauce, baby spinach leaves, cashew cheeZe, sliced olives, and sliced cherry or julienned sun-dried tomatoes, sprinkled with fresh herbs
• Sandwich made with raw bread and any combination of salad fillings
• A raw burger with all the trimmings served on raw bread or between two romaine lettuce leaves

And here are some of my options for dinner:

• Zucchetti Marinara with zucchini noodles, made with either the Spiralizer, Saladacco or with just a peeler, Marinara sauce, CheeZe sauce and sprinkled with No-Parmesan
• Raw Lasagna made with layers of zucchini noodles, CheeZe sauce, spinach leaves and Marinara sauce, served with a side salad
• Large colorful salad with mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, grated carrots, grated or shaved beets, grated zucchini, olives, and sprouts with a favorite dressing
• Raw fruit and veggie platter - whatever combination of sliced/chopped fruits and veggies I have in the refrigerator or I feel like, served decoratively on a platter
• Raw nachos made with chunky Smoked Sunflower Pate, salsa, guacamole, cashew sour creme and raw corn chips or my Mexi Mini crackers
• A raw soup and a side salad

Here are some of my options for snacks:

• Pieces of fruit
• Raw veggie sticks and a dip such as Mock Sour Creme and Chive Dip, Tsatziki or Almond Hummus
• Fruit smoothie
• Green smoothie
• Crackers and Dip
• Fresh fruit or veggie juice (or a combination of both)

This list demonstrates the variety and color of foods available to those who eat raw foods on a regular basis.

Can a Raw Food Diet Help With Multiple Sclerosis?

By

In recent years there has been a lot of talk about multiple sclerosis and raw food diets. There is still a large percentage of the medical community that refuses to see the connection between eating a healthy diet and reduced or eliminated symptoms of MS. However, in recent years far more research is being conducted in the areas of diet and nutrition as a way to improve the overall health of the multiple sclerosis patient and alleviate their symptoms.

Why a Multiple Sclerosis Raw Food Diet?

In order for the brain to function properly, it needs a constant supply of micronutrients. These micronutrients are supposed to be obtained from the foods we eat. Sadly our standard western diet consists mainly of highly processed foods that have almost no nutrients in them. The contents of these prepackaged foods have literally been cooked to death and are devoid of the minerals, micronutrients and vitamins we need.

By creating treating your multiple sclerosis with a raw food diet, you are eating food that since it has not been heated or cooked in any way, still has 100% of all the essential nutrients that your body needs. One thing that needs to be noted here is that while technically raw food means that the foods have not been cooked, it does not mean they have not been heated. In many cases the foods have been warmed in a dehydrator or low oven, the maximum temperature must not exceed 115-120 degrees Fahrenheit as this is the point at which the foods begin to cook and lose their nutritional value.

Is a Multiple Sclerosis Raw Food Diet Effective?

One has only to look around at the vast numbers of people that are switching to an all raw food diet to see just how healthy this type of diet is. It is only within the last hundred or so years that we have become obsessed with cooking everything we eat. Recent studies of patients with multiple sclerosis and a raw food diet are showing some remarkable signs of success.

In Germany, a Dr. Joseph Evers has successfully treated over 1,000 patients with multiple sclerosis by switching them over to a raw food diet. The carefully documented results were nothing short of amazing as his patients experience full remission of their symptoms and over time have shown little or no progression of the disease. In answer to the question, MS can be helped with a raw food diet.

I have benefited greatly from a book which has examined the link between what we eat and multiple sclerosis. If you would like to know what foods are attacking your body, what supplements you must take and how to create the energy that you need, then this book is a must read. Reverse Multiple Sclerosis

I am not a doctor nor am I qualified in medicine in any way. These are things that have worked for me in controlling my MS. Before undertaking any diet or fitness regime you should always consult your physician first.

Raw Food and Kale - How To Make It Good!

Raw food diets can take some getting used to. And as amazing as they can be for your body, they can be tough on the taste buds!

One of the most important parts of eating raw and/or vegetarian, vegan, or any diet for that matter, is getting enough nutrients.

And Kale is one super food that knows how to deliver. But boy can it be tough to eat raw if you don’t prepare it right! I remember a time when raw kale made me nauseas. Over time I fought my way through to the other side, but boy do I wish I knew a few things back then that I know now.

Kale has the highest ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity - a fancy way of saying anti-oxidant) of all foods and delivers a whole host of nutrients too long to list but that your body knows by heart.

Many people find raw kale too bitter, too tough, or just down right gross. But it doesn’t have to be if you know how to buy it and prep it. Now sure the nutrients are important. But another important factor is making sure you don’t go crazy on a diet like this! The last thing you want is to feel deprived or dread eating. So how do you make this incredible power food taste good? Here’s a method that we use at Chakra 4 to make incredible salads.

First of all, go for lacinto kale. It’s the least tough and the least bitter. For years I choked down red kale without knowing any better. Yikes. I wish I found Chakra 4 sooner.

Second, create a really nice dressing out of some lemon juice and olive oil. You can play with the proportions but usually a 50/50 ratio of acid to oil is a good starting point.

Third, separate the kale leaves from the stems and cut the leaves to a size and consistency that you like. Cutting or tearing them into long strips is usually how I make it.

Fourth, mix the oil in with the kale with your hands, and massage the kale. Be firm with it, but don’t totally squish it to death.

The massaging helps to break down some of the toughness, and the oil and lemon juice help while infusing it with a more palatable flavor.

Now you can add whatever other ingredients you like in your salad, and voila! You’ve got yourself some raw kale that is loaded with nutrients and a pleasure to send down the hatch.

Anti-Aging and Raw Food - Younger Skin in Weeks

By

One of the best ways to improve the appearance of your skin is by incorporating raw food into your diet. Beautiful skin starts from inside out. People who switch to eating mostly raw often see an improvement in their skin and look younger.

Raw Food and Cooked Food - The Difference!

Raw food has more nutrients, vitamins and minerals than cooked food. Cooking food destroys the activity of many vitamins and minerals, beneficial enzymes and phytonutrients that promote our health, well-being and appearance.

Even better is to eat organic raw food. Most conventional goods are loaded with pesticides and also contain fewer vitamins. It is also a good idea to consume local foods of the season, which generally contain less pesticide.

By incorporating raw food into your diet you will also realize that your energy level increases.

Benefits of Raw Food for Your Skin

The key to eating raw is that your body absorbs more of the vital anti-aging nutrients, vitamins and minerals, important for a healthy skin.People who consume more raw than any kind of cooked food do stress their body less and have therefore better skin.

It is tremendous what a change in diet has an effect on your health and skin. By consuming raw food you are adding moisture to your skin. Much of the moisture in food gets destroyed in the cooking process. Moisture is essential for an elastic and smooth skin.

Add Raw Food to Your Daily Diet to Get the Anti-Aging Benefits

Even by incorporating half of your daily food being raw you can still experience amazing results for your skin.

For a young looking skin, raw fresh fruits and vegetables of the season are an excellent resource. They contain many antioxidants which neutralize free radicals that age the skin. Some important antioxidants are vitamin A, C and E, but also coenzyme Q-10 and alpha lipoic acid.

Berries are loaded with antioxidants and phytonutrients. They are low in calories, high in water and fiber to keep you full longer. Especially blueberries are among the best source of antioxidants and are widely available. All can add flavor and nutrition to a smoothie for breakfast or a low-fat yogurt for in-between.

Citrus fruits such as oranges and grapefruits are rich in antioxidants and fiber, too. They help strengthen your immune system.

Spending some time outdoors can actually be good for your skin. By consuming raw food high in beta carotene like carrots or tomatoes, you help your skin to naturally protect against sun damage.

Then of course several combinations of salads can be prepared. Putting some olive oil into it, you do even boost the advantages for your skin.

Raw nuts and seeds are rich in vitamin E and B12, which should also be taken into account. Nuts include heart-healthy fats, high fiber and antioxidants. The key to enjoying nuts is portion control. All nuts are healthful in small doses.

Start incorporating raw food into your diet today and you’ll see the benefits for your skin in no time.

Find Out About the Health Benefits of Raw Wild Foods

By

The raw food movement today is gaining popularity across a wider and wider spectrum of society. Raw wild food is more specific and probably is not as high up on the radar for most people.

Many people are interested in foraging., Foraging is the art of collecting and eating the edible plants that grow wild. Some varieties of wild fish and meat can be eaten raw. There are a lot of wild foods that not edible raw so they must be cooked.

There is an important reason why foods are eaten raw, including wild foods. When you cook food above certain temperatures you lose a large portion of the inherent nutrition as well as the enzymes and other active compounds and ingredients. They get cooked out. People who choose to eat exclusively raw diets are interested in getting all the health promoting benefits of the foods raw with nothing lost to cooking.

Wild edible raw foods can come from the forest, the rainforest, the prairie, the ocean, the beach, and even the city. Although you must be careful in the city areas due to human environmental pollution. When foraging for wild foods it is best to choose your harvesting location carefully, away from large scale human activity.

It takes some education to effectively hunt down and harvest wild food that is safe to eat raw. There are a lot of wild foods that are poisonous or semi poisonous and should be avoided. Making sure you know what you are doing when you forage in the wild is critical to having a good experience.

There are wild foods that can be eaten in most locations including locally to where you may live. If you live in a big city you may need to venture out into the country before you will want to eat the wild food near you.

Miners lettuce, a variety of berries, wild parsley, mushrooms, sea weeds and other ocean vegetables, some kinds of calms, oysters, fish and other forms of wild sea life can all be eaten raw. If you plan to forage for wild foods on your own, do your homework and get a good field guide.

Raw wild edible foods can be very high in all kinds of nutrients, antioxidants and all the general nutrition needed for human health. Foods that are wild grown are exactly as nature intended and are some of the very best foods on Earth.

In the rainforest there are countless varieties of plants species, in the hundreds of thousands and only a fraction have been assessed for their edible value. Many of these plant species also have medicinal value. The Amazon rainforest alone is a treasure house of potential highly nutritious edible plants waiting to be discovered. Now more than ever there are a huge variety of raw wild edible plants that have extensive medicinal and nutritional benefits being made available to the world.

Whole raw wild grown plant based foods are being condensed and concentrated for human consumption in the form of wild whole food supplements. This form of raw wild food is more readily available to the masses. Most people are not going to go out and forage for wild foods.

Most of us are not planning to go out foraging on our own, but we still want to eat fresh wild foods and enjoy all the great benefits. Fresh wild and raw foods are offered through some health food stores, co-ops, out door produce markets and even through the internet.

An even more accessible form of edible raw wild foods in through naturally or low temperature dried wild foods. Some companies prepare wild raw foods into a liquid form through complex methods that preserve the raw wild nutrition and other elements. These liquefied supplements can be available in capsules or in a bottle or tincture.

There are many highly nutritious raw wild rainforest superfoods that are popular today. Most are offered in supplement form. Raw wild foods from the Amazon rainforest like Camu Camu, Acai, Maca, Sangre de Drago, Una de Gato and a huge list of raw edible wild grown plants can deliver the nutrition and medicinal needs for robust health for people all over the world.

What Is Adrenal Fatigue? Can We Avoid It? Can We Stop It?

Note: This article was written by an independent contributor. In regards to the recommendation to consume whey protein I personally prefer to use SunWarrior protein powder which is a raw protein powder made from sprouted rice.

Whey protein tends to be acid-forming and many people have undiagnosed intolerances to dairy products, which can further exacerbate adrenal fatigue. Additionally most whey is processed at high temperatures, which denatures the protein, reducing our ability to digest it efficiently, and triggering inappropriate activation of the immune system.

These problems do not occur with the consumption of raw vegan sources of protein such as SunWarrior protein powder.

Your Adrenals are endocrine glands that sit right above your kidneys and are responsible for releasing hormones, mainly in response to stress.

Adrenal Fatigue is simply tired adrenals. And when your adrenals are tired well so are you! The hormones that the adrenal produces pretty much regulate all the functions of your body, for example your thyroid and sex hormones. But what stands out is they produce hormones that influence your ability to metabolize fat, regulate blood sugar and deal with stress.

In today’s world our daily lives put a demand on your adrenal system far beyond what they can produce. So the symptoms you are feeling are exactly what’s happening to your adrenals. If you feel great, you know your adrenals are working properly!

We all experience normal “stress factors” in our lives. It’s called living and they don’t have to necessarily be negative. But they are the continual little things that are a wakeup call that we need to take care of our adrenals and give them a little tender loving care before they give up on us.

Our adrenals are always responding to what’s going on on the outside, so they can figure out what kind of physical response that you need from them.

Do you need an adrenaline surge for an emergency situation?

Do you need more cortisol which tells your body to hang on to fat because you starved yourself all day and you might need it later on to live off of?

Does your glucose need to be regulated to give you the insulin surge you need because you just ate a piece of Red Velvet Cake?

What causes Adrenal Fatigue?

There are numerous reasons your adrenal glands go into overdrive and get tired, but the common denominator is stress. Taking steps to reduce stress in your life is the Golden Ticket to Healthy living and adrenal restoration.

What are the symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue?

Remember Adrenal Fatigue does just what it says. Makes you fatigued. But there are other symptoms as well.

The inability to cope with stress
Anxiety attacks
Feeling tired all the time or very frequently
Low Blood Sugar
Low Blood Pressure
Feeling dizzy upon rising from a horizontal position
Startle easily
An increase or severity of allergic reactions
Weight gain specifically around the belly
Sensitivity to light or night blindness
Erratic Sleep patterns - up all night, sleep all day, 2nd winds when you should be sleeping.
Tough time getting or staying asleep
Low Sex Drive
Frequently getting sick or the inability to recover quickly.
Exercise makes you feel worse not better
Erratic food cravings.

What can be done about Adrenal Fatigue?

Taking the right supplements is the first step to adrenal repair and very important. Your body needs all the minerals, nutrients, and enzymes that unfortunately are not in our nutritionally bankrupt foods. The right nutrients are important for adrenal support and improving poor adrenal function. There are so many supplements on the market, so be careful and make sure you choose a brand that are high in quality and come from clean superior sources.

Vitamin C is essential to the production of adrenal glands and its hormones, and is used up very quickly by the body when it is under stress. Adequate vitamin C supplementation is vital to improving not only adrenal function but needed to saturate body tissues such as the brain, heart and liver. It also plays an important role in the body’s ability to burn fat for fuel; it helps the biosynthesis of carnitine. Also decreased carnitine levels lead to increased fatigue during exercise which leads to exercise intolerance.

Magnesium is another essential supplement for producing adrenal hormones. There is almost always a deficiency when you have adrenal fatigue. Magnesium at bedtime will help you relax and sleep better, alleviate heart palpitations, and relieve the cramping during your menstrual cycle Isagenix Isa Flush is an ozinated magnesium and perfect to take every night.

GABA while not directly affecting your adrenal glands, can be a valuable part of your adrenal fatigue recovery. This amino acid helps to reduce anxiety and relax mentally and is actually beneficial in assisting weight loss. Isagenix Isa Delight Chocolates are a good source of this neurotransmitter.

Healthy Lifestyle tips for improved adrenal function

One of your adrenal glands stress response hormone is cortisol. Any time your body detects stress, it releases more cortisol.

Sleep depreivation causes your body to release MORE cortisol. In a perfect world your level of cortisol is highest in the morning and then decreases by night. But with additional emotional or physical stress it will release more throughout the day.

Too much cortisol in your system at night causes you to wake up frequently during the night and feel tired in the morning. This can lead to a vicious cycle causing more stress because of the lack of sleep. More stress means more cortisol!

Forcing oursleves to carry on while we are tired increases adrenal fatigue. As difficult as it may be, try to sleep when you are tired, listen to your bodys rhythms. It’s trying to tell you something.

Should I Eat or Avoid certain foods?

Eating high quality nutritious foods are important to maintaining adrenal function and keeping blood sugar levels stable.

A few simple strategies are:

Do not eat processed foods or imitation anything. For example “I can’t believe it’s not butter” Ask yourself this; What can you believe it is then? Stay away from artificial sweeteners. These things are nothing but chemicals and do not feed our body.

Stay away from caffeine. If you are a big coffee drinker gradually wean yourself off instead of going cold turkey. Caffeine withdrawals can add stress to your adrenals. In addition caffeine puts your body in an acidic state which is where disease loves to thrive. It also dehydrates you.

Stay away from white sugar and flour. They are simple carbohydrates and require a greater release of insulin, which actually stresses your adrenals by making them work hard to stabilize your blood sugar levels. Always chose whole or multi-grain.

Stay away from Alcohol. Alcohol is a sugar.

Snack frequently and avoids going for long hour not eating. A good rule of thumb is always put a healthy low calorie snack in your mouth every two hours.

Most breakfast foods are fruits and cereals/breads/grains. Most are simple sugars that will spike your blood sugar and cause your adrenals to work harder. A complex carb mixed with a little protein and fat is perfect. This takes longer to metabolize and doesn’t cause that spike. A quick and easy breakfast option is a whey protein meal shake.

The one I highly recommend is Isagenix Isa Lean Shake. Its Whey is imported from New Zealand where the cows are not shot up with steroids and hormones and graze on grass that is not sprayed with pesticides and herbicides. They are happy cows!

Use Sea Salt instead of table salt and do not limit your salt intake. Sodium is absolutely critical for adrenal function, and in adrenal fatigue sufferers it is usually low. Sea Salt has an abundance of trace minerals that table salt is void of.

Increase your intake of water. I can’t stress this enough. Water is the elixir of life. It is essential for every single function of your body even the ones that make hormones like your adrenal glands. Most of the population walk around in a dehydrated state and do not even know it. This leads to malfunctions of our bodily systems which are then mistakenly treated with medication, which further adds stress to the body. And all you needed was water!

Fats are good in your diet, and much needed especially the right kinds of fat. We need fats and cholesterols to make hormones. Good fats are olive oil, real butter, grape seed and coconut oil.

Life is about balance. Take the time to honor your body, remember if you do not take care of yourself how can you take care of the ones you love.
