3 Day Raw Food Detox Diet

For this three day detox diet you will need a juicer and a blender, preferably high speed. This program is based on a cleansing diet that was created by raw food chef, Jill Pettijohn.

Begin each day with herbal or green tea; you can drink as much herbal or green tea as you like during the day.

Consume your juices and soups two to three hours apart and be sure to drink lots of water in between. Ideally your juice or soup should be prepared just before consuming but if this is not possible just prepare your day’s supplies in the morning and store in glass containers in the fridge.

End each day with a relaxing tea such as chamomile.

3 Day Raw Food Detox Diet Menu

Breakfast

Green Juice

1 green apple, 4 celery stalks, 1 cucumber, 3 kale leaves, ½ peeled lemon, ¼ cabbage

Pass ingredients through juicer and consume immediately.

Morning Snack

Green Lemonade

1 green apple, 1 whole lemon, 1 tablespoon flaxseed, 1 tablespoon flax oil, 1 teaspoon honey, 4 cups water, 1 cup ice. Optional additions; mint, ginger or blueberries.

Blend all ingredients. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Lunch

Raw Spinach and Zucchini Soup

1 medium diced zucchini, ¼ cup diced red onion, ¼ celery stalk, 2 cups spinach, 2 tablespoons olive oil, ½ teaspoon celtic sea salt, ¼ cup basil, ¼ avocado, ½ cup either basil, dill or cilantro (vary herbs each day for variety), 4 cups water

Blend all ingredients. Serve chilled or slightly warm.

Afternoon Snack

Green Smoothie

½ cup of your favorite fruit (pineapple, mango, papaya, blueberries), 1 lime, ½ cup of mint, cilantro or parsley, ½ cup ice, 1 cup water

Blend ingredients and consume immediately.

Dinner

Green Juice

1 cucumber, 1 green apple, 5 kale leaves, ½ lemon
Pass through juicer and consume immediately.

Follow this raw food detox diet plan for three days and then continue with a balanced raw food diet for ongoing health maintenance.

  3. I have never done a detox before. This is day 1. I have only made the breakfast juice. There was soooo much of it that I am still extremely full. Took quite a while to drink. May not do lunch. Are these recipes meant for only 1 person? I am starting to experience pain in my upper abdomen just under my breakbone. Is this a normal pain to experience while on a detox?

  4. Hi Felicia and apologies for the delay in my response.

    Yes the recipes are for one person but if you are feeling overly full I would recommend that you don’t consume the whole thing. Just eat until satisfied and if you are hungry later one you can eat the rest.

    Pain is not normal during a detox although digestive discomfort is a common occurrence. Probably the best thing is to separate your lunch soup into two meals. The juices and green smoothies should not cause problems so long as you sip them slowly.

    Be sure not to simply gulp it down. The idea is to chew your juices. Imagine if you were to eat all the foods in the juice or smoothie. It would take a long time to chew them all so it is best to try to take the same amount of time with your smoothie.

  11. Since we appear to be in a 3 Day Raw Food Detox Diet « The Raw Food Solution state of mind, With fresh herbs, the flavor is more subtle than dried herbs, so you would need to add more. Only add the fresh herbs just before the end of the cooking process, then let simmer for another five minutes. This short cooking time is needed for fresh herbs to keep their delicate flavor.

    Fight Back
    Why should raw food retailers and manufactures always be on the defensive ? Read this and you’ll see it could be the other way around. I doubt if the cooked food smoking gun (pardon the expression) has ever been available that could stand up in any court battle or to all the friendly science or friendly judges that the drug manufactures can afford, because it takes roughly seven cross disciplines plus an entirely new one to humiliate them in bullet proof fashion.

    Today’s Nutritional science is nothing more than an alphabet soup of disconnected over simplified and ecliptic assertions like: “too much salt is bad”; “there is a good and bad cholesterol”; “fats and especially transfats cause problems”, etc. The field began with herbs and leaches and didn’t progress much until vitamins were discovered – subsequently it died. Nutrition’s metric is like a ‘feel good or bad’ abstract, isn’t even defined in a structural or model sense and includes cooking advice that makes the pharmaceuticals rich. . . it needs to ‘get a life..

    What follows in the next three pages is what nutrition and life actually are and what you were starting billions of years ago up to today. By the time you finish, you will see why you shouldn’t go on cooking yourself as you are now unknowingly doing !

    A CONVERSATION ABOUT NUTRITION (1)

    “What is Meant by My Statement “Stop Cooking Yourself” ?
    The answer unveils the credibility of the medical/nutritional profession and leaves them completely naked – in my opinion. Lets start with the biological property they call ‘health’. In the dictionary health is defined vaguely as ‘soundness of the body’ and redundantly as ‘well being’. Thus- already their product called ‘health care’ has little or no scientific metric tool for self evaluation. I’m going to ‘cut to the chase’ and equate ‘health’ to the ‘quantitative’ we call ‘life’ – since I can model life in structural architecture terms which has much foundation in today’s sciences, albeit in scattered availability. Simply put the more life in you – the healthier you are.

    One also needs a transparent physical model of what life is so as to avoid the realm of both the creator and also the spinsters. There has been enough model scattered around for years now and I will contribute some concept clarification as well, especially as pertains to gene role and the events leading to the formation or architecture of life – this in a language anyone can understand

    Bare with me, because to understand nutrition, health, and what you are at the nuts&bolts level, you must first understand structure and protect it from the main stream ‘nutritionist from hell’!. You will see structure evolve from the virtually immutable, explosive and simplest form to the ‘life end game’ of molecular dizzying and fragile complexity. Only then can you realize your full potential in life.

    Physical Life Model
    Life is a structure or molecule of C,N ,O & H atoms that has obtained the ability to copy itself, i.e. start the next generation. As a CO-condition it obviously must be able to obtain energy in order to copy itself and must also be able to compete for that energy – if need be. Competition therefore necessitates the inherent ability to continuously adapt more successful molecular organization. For adaptations to become propagatable, though, the parent unit needs to divide while remembering the latest added complexity. This is how we, for one example, can restart each generation from a single cell. However, this reproducing/dividing capability is useless unless there is a supply of ‘mate’ molecules available two create new dividable pairs.

    How Could ‘First Life’ Have Come About ?
    It seems the end game capability called ‘life’ was there from day one harbored in the architecture of material we call the hydrogen atom- which is also the simplest of atomic matter but not as basic as subatomic matter.

    At the atom level such as with hydrogen, charge balancing between nucleus particles and orbiting smaller particle(s) give rise to the permitted ways in which atoms interact- making this phenomena the basic foundation of molecular architecture. With enormous amounts of energy present, say like in the sun, not only does hydrogen fuse into an atom with more orbiting electrons, but each of those (called helium) can do likewise creating a whole spectrum of different kinds of atoms. The last time I looked, there were over a hundred types.

    Nature has charge balancing rules for what constitutes a stable orbit population of these particles and therefore some kinds of atoms are rejected and some are attracted to each other. A stable coupling of two types of atoms, say hydrogen and oxygen, is called a molecule. In the realm of these ‘coupling’ electron particles, the distinction between matter and energy, as we once new it, has became blurred.
    .
    Skipping Billions of Years to ‘Life’ Structure – How Did We Get There ?
    How is Life a Derivative of Molecular Structural Architecture ?
    The most simple atom (hydrogen) fused with 4 other hydrogens to beget helium, helium fused with other heliums to beget more complex atoms and eventually atoms like carbon, nitrogen, oxygen – which provided the material tools for the biosphere, because they inherited numerous orbits and numerous connecting electrons but in of a charge balancing configuration that invited selective couplings in their interfacing orbits.
    Organics
    Interestingly, this bonding complexity is composed of a narrow band of players like O,H,N,C and a few others in the whole spectrum of atoms. In this band, called the biosphere, the complexity of the connecting structures increases as the strength of the coupling decreased which also makes the couplings, and therefore the combinations, more sensitive to environmental changes. This is a requirement for the next realm of organics to succeed.

    Due to the possible orbiting arrangements found in C,N,H and O, these atoms combine with each other in a myriad (hundreds) of combinations – a class called organics. Also using their own resultant structures as coupling devices somewhat like the kid toy set LEGO, the incredible multiplicity of possible organic structures, exponentially on exponentially, formed even more complex structures which eventually formed a tide of what is called the nucleotides. I don’t know where the ‘tide’ in nucleotide came from – till now I thought it awkward, but it sure fills the bill from the formation supply perspective and also complements the virtual certainty that these structures must have originated in a water born environment.
    .
    Further on we see nucleotides networking or sequencing into amino acids, amino acids networking into proteins, enzymes, hormones, etc., neurons networking into logic and memory paths…on an on.
    The Adam & Eve Nucleotide
    There was no Adam & Eve nucleotide. For one thing, Adam&Eve are nucleotide sequences like us. For another, if Adam nucleotide divided into two Adams there would have to already been matching Eve nucleotides around – only then do these life enablers become complete ones and zeros, so to speak. In other words, dividing only initiates ‘life sequencing’ if there was already a supply tide of life enabling nucleotide molecules around. But the concept of organic structure exponential propagation’s, fully satisfies the tide scenario for ‘How Did It happen’..

    The Nucleotide
    If we were a computer, the nucleotide-pair sequences as ones & zeros would be our machine code and the most basic form of us. This most basic form of ‘life enablement’molecules, however, is a molecule involving hundreds of atoms. There are said to be four types but two are as conceptually similar as male and female of the other two, such that we are dealing with two nucleotide pairs – each pair connects at symetrical center (enabling reproduction) and is where molecular division and later cell division occurs. Life ‘application’ and evolution occur when these nucleotide pairs form a sequence like a computer word (i.e. an amino acid made up of ones and zeros) in response to some external purpose. As for ‘coupling structures’ replacing electron couplers, we have an analogy with a computer subroutine or ‘function’.

    Conceptually What Are Genes ?
    The memory mechanism is just the templet of the old and newly evolving structures and is simply the mirror image in the development sequences of a given organism. In organisms such as us, the plans for our entire body are in every cell and furthermore these genes can switch roles in the early stages of development in response to the environment.

    WHAT HAS ALL THIS GOT TO DO WITH COOKING YOURSELF ?
    Relative to our interest though, the ‘life enabler’ is a complex organic molecule of a definite and vulnerable shape functioning as building blocks for tissue, organs, bone etc. These are not immutable bricks nor are they high carbon steel or diamond – you don’t mess around with them without consequences ! Even sun light, let alone cooking, (think melanoma) can put them on the wrong path. Their shape is protected within the body from invaders by the host animal’s immune system. Conversely if the nucleotide’s shape has been altered such that it appears alien to the immune system- it will be attacked by same. The immune system’s recognition of ‘friend or foe’ is the job of the T-cell which has a recognition molecule the mirror image of the nucleotide’s surface recognition (i.e pass port) molecule. All organic functionality, so far, is related to fragile molecular shape or architecture. There is nothing in nature that equates functionality to ‘medication’ or is enhanced by same.

    No Road Back
    What it means to cook yourself is to first recognize that what you eat is going to become YOU – that is why you are eating it. It goes into your body – pure and simple. It would have been instinctive in you if commercial interests had not kidnapped your confidence. What nature intended you to do (and what every natural thing on the planet does) is for the stomach and its intestinal extension to strip the nucleotides out of the animal being consumed and send them to the cells of the consumer to fit gene templets of amino acids/proteins, as required. Consumed carbohydrates, initially structurally very similar to proteins, are normally reduced into sugars and are used for energy unless combined into proteins, thus certain carbohydrate combinations can form proteins and go the same route as the proteins.

    The Bad News
    There is no mechanism in the body to rebuild deformed nucleotides from shapeless (denatured/cooked) nucleotide remains. But you will build unwelcomed deformed body parts and generally decompose yourself over time. We mistakenly call this old age. The good news is you can replace decomposed cell parts if you begin intake of raw undeformed nucleotides. Note ! Genes (i.e protein templets) don’t construct nucleotides they construct nucleotide protein sequences.

    Another problem is the stomach has trouble even trying to process deformed intake through the body let alone expect to strip nucleotides from it.. You get very sleepily from this sluggish process about 10-15 minutes after you eat the cooked stuff and it isn’t because you have eaten something very rich as most people are taught. The same dysfunction will also (and logically) keep you hungrier than if eating the same amount of raw food – so, inevitably you eat too much among the other disadvantages.

    Life Is Not Created in an Animals Body .
    Life is basically transferred through the ages by cell division and repairing with available nucleotides. The animal being consumed is decoded and converted into the consumer by genes which are recorders of the consumers protein sequences. They are universal and will become what ever animal ate them. Conversely YOU can become part of another animal by becoming a shark victim who gets no benefit from the sequence (i.e YOU) of these and indeed must give up energy to break you down into nucleotides.

    Cooking
    It should now be obvious that nucleotides must be kept alive in animals bodies to propagate life which means that the architecture must be preserved. If you have ever cooked an egg you know that the nucleotides are going through a profound architectural and physical change plus obviously the egg will never produce a chick. So the relevant aspect of ‘cooking yourself ‘ is the ‘functional change in architecture’ of your intake nucleotides (which was related to temperature only when they were cooked – not when they were eaten.).
    .
    Digestion & Doctor Spin
    The official Nutritional Science (from Hell), tells us that the first major stage of digestion is done by HCL in the stomach where consumed protein ends up as amino acids and later nucleotides. But doctors contend that the indiscriminate (random) energy of cooking has the same result as the natural HCL process in the stomach which is governed by the laws of Chemistry. How can amino acids and their inherent nucleotides be preserved if bombarded by random energy ? You might as well argue that the people of Nagasaki living less than 5 miles from ground zero weren’t harmed by the random radiant energy of an atom bomb. Sorry this is simpleton BS and the single most lethal statement of fraud that puts most adults in disease agony (of the many types) and shorten lives through out the globe. Indeed they contend this cooking actually protects you…….

    No Science Involving Architecture ???
    Since this article draws (piecemeal) from many cross disciplines including. Atomic physics, Nuclear physics, Bio Physics, Computer Science, Probability Mathematics, Chemistry, Conventional Nutritional Science – it is unlikely there exist architectural based Nutritional Physics as is presented here.

    *So don’t doctors know enough of what is basically old science now even if it puts architecture out of focus ? How can they ignore the very concept of ‘life’ in their products ?
    *Shouldn’t they be protecting you from this instinctively uncondoned process (nothing on the planet cooks its food) instead of profiting from it ? Indeed how can they engineer by law, and recommendation, the destruction (cooking) of life ?
    * Even if Doctors and research scientist all failed Nutritional Physics 101 (which probably doesn’t exist as an architecture subject) they must still understand you can’t get a chicken from a cooked egg. Even stupidity has limits!
    * Haven’t any of them noticed that fish don’t ever look old ?
    * How can there be such a field of ‘health professionals’ when they claim they can’t cure
    Cancer, Arthritis, Lupus,……….. or even the common cold ? But all the latest drugs
    perform miracles in clinical trials ?
    * When it comes to the obvious culprit (cooking) there rejection reasoning, based on self
    funded science, goes like: Yes the car crashes into the side of the mountain but the ice
    on the road interacts with the tires the same way as a dry road ?

    WHO AM I ?
    Forget the degree and all the technical stuff – when I was a teenager I had severe arthritis and would have been crippled way before now (at 71) if I had listened to them when they said, as now: “there is no known cure for arthritis” !
    I have seen, by now, many who have died from this, related disease and the pills that doctors recommend. The majority of the over 50 world recognize they have and suffer from this disease but they are unaware that it has a simple cure that even a teenager (myself), still in high school, discovered

    A simple experiment, if done by a truly independent source, could nail the cause of cancer, arthritis, diabetes, all the so called ‘auto immune’ diseases, and who knows how many more, all of which the doctors say there is no know cure for.

    It is dumbfounding to think there could be a more obvious culprit for disease than cooking and while billions are being spent on dead-end research and the creation of new and mostly harmful drugs ?????

  18. Felise, it is best to stick with blended foods if you can because this gives the digestive system a break and enhances the detox but if you are craving solid food or still hungry you can eat extra raw fruit and vegetables.

  22. I did this detox back in 2009. I am trying it again this weekend. This time my husband is going to do it as well! Last time I used my Vitamix and some of the juices were very thick. I did not feel particularly cleansed at the completion. I am wondering if I should try it this time with a regular centrifugal juicer and not the Vitamix. Any thoughts?

  23. Well I think the vitamix would be best because it creates a smoother consistency and allows greater availability of nutrients. But the only recipes that require blending are the smoothie and the lunch-time soup.

    Are you blending the green juice ingredients? These should be prepared in a juicer not a blender. But if you don’t have one you can blend them in a vitamix then strain through a nut milk bag.

    If you are still finding the drinks too thick just add more water to crate a thinner consistency. You may want to reduce your portion sizes as well if you are feeling like you aren’t getting the cleansing results you are expecting.

  24. Oh, I see. I used the VitaMix for all the recipes and did not strain the pulp. I did add a bit more water when the drinks were too thick. Next time I try this I will either try a juicer or strain through a milk bag. Thank you!

  28. There would be way too much fiber if you tried to blend it and this would leave you feeling heavy and most likely with digestive distress; the opposite of what you are hoping to achieve.

    If you don’t have a juicer you might consider buying juice from a juice bar or instead you could substitute the green juices with a powdered green supplement.

  29. My stomach seizes up at the thought of eating an apple on an empty stomach! It could not cope with the acid, any time but especially first thing in the morning! So I am a bit reluctant to try your 3 day detox, although I do want to do a detox. Any suggestions?

    I would recommend eating only fruit for three days. You might like to try a watermelon fast.

  33. Black tea isn’t recommended during a detox because it is high in caffeine and acidic. Best to stick with green or herbal teas.

  34. Can I substitute the green apple with a gala apple? Does it matter if I use a white or red onion that much?
